IIPP (Injury, Illness Prevention Plan) is a mandatory document for any business operating in California with 10 or more employees. The IIPP Consists of 8 sections, outlining the WAY a company informs employees about hazards of the workplace, addresses disciplinary actions, communication, and the like. The IIPP consists of the following 8 sections:

  • Responsibility
  • Compliance
  • Communication
  • Hazard Assessment
  • Accident/Exposure Investigation
  • Hazard Correction
  • Training and Instruction
  • Recordkeeping

To be effective your IIPP must:

Fully involve all employees, supervisors and management. Identify specific workplace hazards, Fully involve all employees, supervisors, and management, Identify these hazards and have an effective mitigation process, and provide effective training to all supervision and employees.

Title 8 of the California Code of Regulations (T8CCR) section 3203, requires every employer to develop and implement an effective IIPP. An effective IIPP improves the safety and health in your workplace and reduces costs by good management and employee involvement.

Any Company which receives a citation from CalOSHA, will not have that penalty reduced for ANY REASON if it involved the IIPP.
